Secluded pods 1.5 hours from Cape Town at the Theewaterskloof dam nature reserve.
Our Eco Pods are situated on a working apple and pear farm in the mountains behind the farm. They are built from used shipping containers and are completely off the grid. We have built the Pods with a lot of thought and love and, most importantly, as sustainably as possible.
Our Pods are beautifully finished and kitted out with extra luxurious touches like crisp white linen, down duvets, soft fluffy towels and a wood-fired hot tub as well as a combustion fireplace for the cooler months. We’re proud to have built units that are sustainable and completely off the grid while maintaining a level of luxury.
Walking, Hiking & Running
There are lovely walking, running and hiking trails you can explore on the farm as well as on the mountain behind the farm. In apple season (late January to mid-May) you are welcome to pick apples for your own consumption.
The Cape Canopy Tour
The Cape Canopy tour is a fantastic activity for the whole family to do and has been voted one of the best things to do in Africa. It is surrounded by dramatic mountain scenery and provides a bit of an adrenaline rush. It is well worth it and less than a 20 minute drive from Lake Lodge.

Wine Routes & Eating Out
There are a few wine routes nearby which you can explore. Villiersdorp has one or two wine farms, including Stettyn where you can enjoy a delicious tasting and cheese platter.
The Botriver valley is a stone’s throw away as is the beautiful Elgin valley where a number of restaurants await.
We recommend lunch at Gabrielskloof near Botriver, or at the Pool Room at Oak Valley in the Elgin valley. Stopping for a light bite to eat on your way to or from the Lodge at Tuk Tuk Brewery in Franschhoek is a fantastic way to start or finish your visit.
There are lovely cycling trails you can explore on the farm as well as on the mountain behind the farm.
The Theewaterskloof Golf Club is less than ten minutes drive away which hosts one of the best 9 hole courses in the country with its picturesque setting on the edge of the dam.
The Theewaterskloof Dam
Please make use of the Theewaterskloof Dam which borders the farm. You will need to cross the main road, and head slightly to your right where you will see the main entrance to the farm on the left. Travel down that road towards the dam. Please only use the area in front of the Red Shed, as the Lake Lodge is booked out exclusively. You can also enjoy the dam from the Theewaterskloof Sports Club just 10 minutes drive away.
