FAQs

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

How equipped are the kitchens?

Each pod comes with a small kitchen area that is fully equipped. The kitchens have gas hobs and ovens, a stove-top kettle, pots, pans, cutlery, crockery, and all the kitchen items you will need for a few days away. If there is anything specific you wish to have in the kitchen, enquire before your stay and we’ll let you know if it’s there. There is an undercover outdoor braai area too.

Are you pet friendly?

Unfortunately not. We have a large house on the farm available for rent, Lake Lodge, which is very pet friendly and perfect for large groups.

Do I need a 4 x 4 to access the Pods?

You don’t need a 4 x 4, however a high clearance vehicle is highly recommended. It is a 2km gravel road up the mountain to the Pods. You are welcome to contact us prior to arrival to ascertain your accessibility. There have been occasions where guests have driven a sedan up, but that is dependent on how carefully you wish to drive – the 4 x 4 or 2 x 4 will save your nerves! Please no low-profile tyres.

Are kids allowed?

While we highly recommend booking our two sleeper unit as just the two of you, you are welcome to bring a small baby (under one year old) however we do not provide any bedding for your baby. The four sleeper pod has two identical rooms ideal for two couples, however if you are a family who wish to book the unit, children are welcome. Maximum occupancy is 4 people for the two bedroom unit, and 2 people and a small baby for the one bedroom unit.

Is there enough power for my weekend away with the pods being off the grid?

Yes! There is more than enough power supplied to each eco pod. The oven and hob as well as the geyser are all gas powered. Each pod has its own solar system and battery which will not run out unless you over work the system.

Very important: There is no microwave oven, and there is a low-watt hair dryer supplied for your convenience. It is very important that you do not use any other hairdryer or hair styling tools during your stay – it will deplete all the power in the solar system very quickly and you won’t have any left until it has time to recharge.

Is there wifi or cell phone signal?

Yes! We have both wifi and cell signal. The wifi isn’t fibre but it is uncapped and suitable for basic work needs.

How do I check availability?

You can check availability under our Bookings tab, and can also make a booking through our booking system in the same place on our website.

What time is check in and check out?

You are welcome to check in from 2pm and check out from 11h00. Please chat to us should you want an earlier check in or later check out, we are sometimes flexible depending on our bookings.

What do we supply for your stay?

We supply wood for an indoor fire, braai and for the hot tub, as well as firelighters, a lighter/matches, toilet paper, bedding, towels, braai and kitchen utensils, tea, coffee, Nespresso pods, sugar, salt, pepper, braai salt, olive oil and balsamic vinegar.

Can we hike or go for runs/walks in the area?

We have a short hiking path in the mountains where the Pods are situated, and you are welcome to traverse further up the mountain, however there are no paths. You are welcome to walk down to the dam (cross the main road) and traverse on the farm.

How many pods do you have and how many people can each pod sleep?

At the moment we have a two sleeper eco pod ready for you to come and stay, and a four sleeper due to arrive by December 2021. Maximum occupancy is 4 people for the two bedroom unit, and 2 people and a small baby for the one bedroom unit.
