Wine Routes & Eating Out
There are a few wine routes nearby which you can explore. Villiersdorp has one or two wine farms, including Stettyn where you can enjoy a delicious tasting and cheese platter.
The Botriver valley is a stone’s throw away as is the beautiful Elgin valley where a number of restaurants await.
We recommend lunch at Gabrielskloof near Botriver, or at the Pool Room at Oak Valley in the Elgin valley. Stopping for a light bite to eat on your way to or from the Lodge at Tuk Tuk Brewery in Franschhoek is a fantastic way to start or finish your visit.

The Theewaterskloof Dam
FOR MOTORISED BOATING ON THE DAM
Boats can be launched in front of the lodge (at your own risk) but there is no ramp so there is a risk of getting stuck. Check your entry point carefully. All craft must be registered with the Theewaters Sports Club (TSC)and skippers must be licensed. TSC (028) 840 1334. There is a slipway at TSC.
PROTOCOL FOR LAUNCHING BOATS ON THEEWATERSKLOOF DAM
All boat owners are required to register boats at Theewater Sports Club before venturing on the dam. At registration you need to show proof of valid COC (Certificate of Competance) and Skippers license. You will be given a boat registration number that you need to affix to the side of your boat before launching.
After registration of your boat, you will be directed to the Wash Bay, where your boat will be sprayed by a wash bay official. This is a directive from the Department of Environmental Affairs, to avoid transmission of invasive water plants. This rule is not negotiable.
When registering your boat you will receive a Water Safety Booklet. Skippers are requested to acquaint themselves with all the Rules and Regulations stipulations before venturing onto the dam.
You need to ensure that you have all the stipulated safety equipment, life jackets, etc. on board, whilst on the Theewaterskloof dam
Failure to observe the above will result in your removal by the Safety Officer, SAPS or Nature Conservation official.
We ask for your assistance in helping keep Theewaterskloof dam free from ALIEN species and observing the Rules of the dam.
Please note: In the event of an emergency whilst on the water, please call the following number: 060 884 6497
